Engaging with local businesses and allies in the arts industry is at the heart of our mission: to raise awareness of Western Sydney’s vibrant creative community, celebrate the talents of local artists, and shine a light on the authentic stories being told right here in our backyard.
Let’s give a big round of applause to these local champions who are putting their hearts (and wallets) into supporting #WesternSydneyFilm!
By backing Made in the West, they’re not only endorsing the local film community – they’re shouting it loud and proud for all to hear.
We’re beyond grateful for their commitment to our grassroots film festival. You can show your appreciation by visiting their websites, giving them a thumbs-up on social media, and keeping them top of mind for your next shoot, screening, film course, or project.
This list is just the beginning! Stay tuned for more sponsor announcements as we gear up for the 2024 Made in the West Film Festival coming soon on Saturday 30 November.
We’d like to give a HUGE THANKS to our Screen Sponsors…
EVENT CINEMAS LIVERPOOL
Event Cinemas is a HUGE supporter of the Western Sydney film community, partnering with us to provide their stunning Vmax cinema to host our festival each year. It’s the ultimate filmmaker’s dream: 330 leather armchair seats, state-of-the-art digital projection, and a licensed cocktail bar for a pre-screening toast.
Chris and the highly dedicated team at Liverpool Event Cinemas work hand in hand with us to ensure the festival runs smoothly – we can’t wait to roll out the red carpet again this year!

WESTERN SYDNEY UNIVERSITY (WSU)
We’re thrilled to welcome WSU School of Humanities and Communication Arts back as our Gold+ Screen Sponsor! Their contribution has allowed us to grow the festival and celebrate the incredible talent of Western Sydney filmmakers over the last three years and we are immensely grateful for their contribution to our event costs.
As thanks, we offer students studying in WSU Communication Arts or Arts & Creative Industries degrees meaningful industry experience working with us at Made in the West.
This year, we’ve had the pleasure of working with seven different students in our Content Management & Curation internships (shout out to Isabella Mabazza, Lujayne el Darwich, Diana Caicedo, Tully Jackson, Mia Gibbs-White, Jasmin Travis, and Calvin Tran Nguyen!), and now also Angeli Moscoso has taken on our Publicity Internship.
We ran our annual poster design competition with Burrow Design Studio again this year too, and Abbey-Jane Camilleri blew us away with her amazing work. What a year it’s been!
WSU students – do you want to volunteer to work with us as camera assistants or FOH ushers at this year’s festival? Send us an email!
LUKE WALKER PRODUCTIONS
Luke Walker Productions is more than a sponsor – they’re family. Luke and his crew will be capturing all the glamour of this year’s festival, from the red carpet to the awards ceremony. Their top-tier gear and filmmaking expertise will ensure the magic of the night is preserved for our online audience.
And here’s the kicker – Luke is also contributing an amazing DOP package for our Audience Choice Award winner. We couldn’t be more grateful for his continued support!
Check out Luke Walker Productions' portfolio and keep them in mind for your next project.
AFTRS (Australian Film, Television and Radio School)
AFTRS is back on board this year, and we couldn’t be more grateful! Their mission to empower storytellers aligns perfectly with what we do here at Made in the West. With industry-relevant education, hands-on training, and an emphasis on diverse storytelling, AFTRS offers opportunities for creatives at every stage of their journey.
From postgraduate Masters in Screen Arts to shorter courses like Intro to Screenwriting and Voice Over Workshops, there’s something for every aspiring filmmaker.
A special shout-out to Marissa and the team at AFTRS for supporting this year’s event costs and believing in our mission to uplift Western Sydney filmmakers.
MADE IN THE WEST CREATIVE
We couldn’t do what we do without Made in the West Creative, the team that plans, promotes, and produces the festival. From covering the event costs to providing all the filmmaker awards, we’re passionate about amplifying Western Sydney’s stories on a national – and even global – stage.
This year, we brought Made in the West’s award-winning films from the archive to the outdoor big screen at Sydney Olympic Park, ran workshops for indie filmmakers to decide their ‘Calling Card’ at ACE in Parramatta, and hosted a second Indie Filmmaker Meetup at SXSW Sydney!
We love creating new opportunities to connect and inspire our creative community. Keep an eye out for more events and new crew opportunities coming soon.
Let’s hear it for these incredible sponsors!
These local heroes are helping us build a bright future for Western Sydney’s film scene. Their support keeps Made in the West thriving, giving local creatives a platform to shine.
Know a local business that might want to get involved? We’re always on the lookout for prize sponsors and financial backers. If you know someone who’s passionate about Western Sydney stories, we’d love to chat—reach out through our website or social media!
More sponsor and prize announcements are coming soon, so stay tuned for the latest updates.
For now, just be sure to save the date for Saturday 30 November at Event Cinemas Liverpool. Tickets are FREE (with some VIP paid options if you’re that way inclined!) and will open online on Friday 1 November, then soon after we reveal this year’s film selections!
For those who can’t join us in person, the online MEGA Movie Marathon kicks off on the 10th of December and runs all summer long! Grab your friends, vote for your favourite films, and celebrate the best of Western Sydney’s creative community from the comfort of your couch.
This year’s online screening is set to be bigger than ever before! PLUS, we might even have a few surprise pop-up screenings around town – watch this space!
It feels like this might just be our lucky year.
See you soon, film fam x
