It’s time to meet your HOSTS for the 2019 Made in the West Film Festival!
We’re so thrilled to welcome two charismatic hosts to get you in the mood for celebration this weekend. They’ll be introducing our finalist films on stage and hosting our red carpet interviews - don’t be afraid to say hello when you see them!
LAURA BRADSHAW Laura B will be hosting this year’s festival as our MC! Last year she did a fabulous job as our host on the red-carpet and this year she is excited to step into the spotlight to introduce the films in our awesome festival line-up. Originally from Liverpool UK, Laura started out in the world of dance, modelling and commercial radio. Since moving Down Under eleven years ago, Laura has brought her knowledge to the airwaves launching a weekly Best of British radio show, broadcast to South West Sydney and attracting many online followers around the globe. Her interviews with some of the leading UK bands and artists are a testimony to the work she does. Recently Laura launched another radio show - Irish Vibes - which caters to the huge Irish population in Australia. Laura prides herself on bringing attention to grassroots artists of the music and entertainment industry and continues to strive to give them a platform to be seen. HELDER FERNANDES
Helder is an actor and will be working his magic on the red carpet this year, interviewing finalists and filmmakers for our festival highlights reel. Apart from having worked on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017), he has also been in numerous productions ranging from feature films, TV series, documentaries, international music videos and commercials, and has also emceed a few festivals, pageants and fairs. Helder enjoys giving back to the community being a Brand Ambassador for Self Appreciation Day on February 16 which focuses on mental health and self love. He is also an Ambassador of Sole Adventure that focuses on providing shoes for those who need them most. Helder will be walking 2000km soon to raise funds and awareness for people in need.
