Still Searchin Productions have been working hard behind the scenes with our wonderful festival sponsors, making some great plans for Made in the West 2018!!
That’s why we’re super excited for today’s announcement that THREE more local businesses have put their hands up to help us raise the profile of Western Sydney’s film talent! We're over the moon with these prizes and we're just so thankful to have the support of the local community. So let's all say thanks to them by repaying the favour -- check out their websites, give them a big thumbs up on Facebook and think of them first next time you need a quote for services.
Help us spread the word about these local heroes!
Western Sydney based cinematographer Rah Sharma leads the team at Nighthawk Productions working on corporate commercials, music videos, short and feature films. Rah won the Best Cinematographer award at Made in the West 2016 for his film The Briefcase, and has since been working as Director Of Photography (DOP) on feature films in Australia and overseas. Now a brand ambassador for Zhiyun Tech camera gear, Rah launched his own YouTube series for emerging filmmakers called 'Light it up', earlier this year, featuring some great Zhiyun Tech gear (of course!) and some cool tips for emerging filmmakers about lighting and cinematography.
In 2018, Nighthawk Productions will donate a Director of Photography package, valued at $3,000, to the winner of Best Student Film. It’s an amazing prize for any student looking to launch their career with a new short film - an award-winning, in-demand DOP to shoot it like a pro. But wait, there’s more! Rah is also going to give you your very own camera gimbal, courtesy of Zhiyun Tech! For totally smooth sweeping shots, the Zhiyun Tech gimbal is a must-have in your camera kit. Thanks so much Rah and Nighthawk Productions for this awesome student filmmaker prize!

Let’s put it this way... If you’re a filmmaker and you haven’t been to check out Sydney Props yet, you’re missing out!
In 2018, Sydney Props is supporting Made in the West by donating another fantastic prize to the winner of our Best Director award - one day hire of their TV production studio, valued at over $1,000! Thanks to Sydney Props, your next shoot location is sorted because you’ll have one full day (8am-6pm) in STUDIO 4 which is a soundproof, air-conditioned 12m x 9m TV studio that’s big enough to drive a car into! With a change room, makeup area and toilets, plus a well-equipped kitchen and prep room immediately adjacent, it’s the perfect studio for your next TV commercial or music video shoot. Thanks so much Sydney Props for supporting local filmmakers!
Hills based photographer Irierootsini specialises in artist portraits and product photography. Fuelled with imagination and creativity, Irierootsini is always focused on creating works of art through the camera lens. We’re excited to welcome Emil and the team at Irierootsini back for a second year with Made in the West!
In 2018, Irierootsini Photography is offering the winners of the 2018 Best Actress and Best Actor awards a Deluxe Actors & Models Profile package, valued at over $300, which includes up to 3 hours with a professional photographer in the studio or at a location of your choice! Included in each package is 15 retouched images selected from the 15 to 25 final images, which are chosen from the 20 to 40 shots taken on the day. What a great prize for our acting category award winners - thanks so much to Irierootsini!
