Made in the West Film Festival 2018 is OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS!
If you’ve made a short film that features cast, crew or locations from Western Sydney and is under fifteen minutes in duration, you are eligible to submit your film. All genres are welcome, from documentaries and music videos, to animation, drama series, web series episodes, sci-fi and horror.

Made in the West is a celebration of Western Sydney on the big screen. Now in our seventh year, we proudly remain the only film festival dedicated to celebrating filmmakers from Western Sydney, showcasing the original and authentic stories being made in the region.
Submissions will be judged by a panel of industry professionals. Finalists compete for trophies including the Best in the West Award, Best Student Film and the ever popular Audience Choice Award. Individual category prizes for Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Cinematographer, Best Editor, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Sound Design and Best Original Score will be awarded throughout the night.
And we’re super excited that this year, thanks to our new venue partner – EVENT Cinemas Liverpool – all Made in the West finalist films will be screened on a HUGE cinema screen with a full digital cinema package and surround sound. Oh yeah! We are amazingly proud to be hosting Made in the West at such an awesome cinema this year – we can’t wait!
In 2017, Made in the West Film Festival awarded more than $12,000 worth of prizes, including coaching and mentoring sessions with some of Western Sydney’s best filmmakers, camera and equipment rental, studio and edit suite hire, professional photo shoots and business workshops.
